Complete Hormones

This is where things get a bit more sciency. We are looking to see how the hormones are being broken down by the body.

'The Good, The Bad and the Ugly'

There are different types of oestrogens, some are more potent and inflammatory like 4-OH which when high can increase risk of breast cancer.

Other types of oestrogen are more protective like 2-OH.

The 16-OH is in the middle but you still don't want really high levels.

We are genetically predisposed to send oestrogens down different routes. Some may make more of the 2-0H whilst others more of the 4-OH. The reason why this test is so good is that there are foods that you can eat that help upregulate different pathways.

The main benefit of doing this test would be to reduce breast cancer risk by supporitng any pathways that are down regulated or upregulated.

Cycle Mapping

There is also an option to track your oestrogen and progesterone over the monthly cycle (like the Rhythm test but in urine instead of saliva)

This gives you insights into what is happening with your hormones at certain times of the month. If you are experiencing symptoms at specific times in the month, we can see what your hormones are doing. And we can also look to see whether there are signs of oestrogen dominance or oestrogen deficiency.

If you want help choosing the right test?  or just want to find out more about functional testing?

You can book a 15 minute chat and I'd be happy to answer any questions you might have around testing, no obligation.
